Earworms usually drive me crazy, but not this time. I can't get this song out of my head, along with a host of other Elton John songs. It's OK though. Elton John is my favorite. I don't mind having his songs ever-present in my brain. It's been this way since Tuesday, April 12 when Ed and I, along with a few friends, saw the Rocketman in concert.
Elton played two sets and an encore to a sold-out arena.
He stayed seated at his piano most of the time, only occasionally standing to acknowledge the crowd in between songs. He did seem to have trouble walking, but he did say he is 75 years old.
It was a fabulous concert and I'm glad that I have had the privilege of seeing him 3 times.
Farewell, Rocketman! Thanks for giving me songs to love.
Spring has finally sprung here in central Ohio. Every year a pair of mallards strolls the neighborhood in search of a place to nest. There are 2 or 3 cats prowling the cul de sac. I hope the ducks find a place safe from them.
My brother Joe came up to spend Easter weekend with us. He and I spent part of the day on Saturday over at Kristin's house. She was out of town and asked that I check in on her cat. Nala and Joe had a lovely time visiting with each other. Joe loves cats and Nala loved the attention.
The Easter bunny stopped by. Since the kids are grown, the bunny doesn't leave loads of candy. I'm sure he doesn't mind delivering gift cards. They are a lot lighter to carry.
Earlier in April, my friend, Cindy, and I went up to Akron for a sewing expo. We took two classes. The first was a class on ice dyeing. We dyed a king sized sheet in a mandala pattern. Here is mine after it was finished. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. Part of me is thinking about making another and then quilting them together. It would make a nice, albeit wildly colored, quilt for our guest room. Maybe if I make the other side more monochromatic, or maybe muted tones, I could flip it as the mood hits. We'll see. That may be a project for this summer.
My main project for this summer is to not acquire more stuff, but to purge.
Because we finally pulled the trigger on moving. We purchased some land and are going to build a house.
There is a pond off the back of the lot, which excites me more than I can say. This is the view looking towards the southwest.
This is approximately the view from our family room window, looking directly west. The ugly cell phone tower that is pretending to be a pine tree is a bit of an eye-sore, but We figure once trees grow up around it, and we get used to the view, it won't bother us so much. The green space around the pond will not be developed so we are guaranteed that our view is going to stay this way.
We have finished picking out the decor and signed off on the blueprints. The builder is now preparing the permit package. They said it may take a couple months for the permits to come in. Once they do, we will be put in the queue to have the foundation dug. We were given a rough estimate of February 2023 for our closing. That gives me at 6-9 months to purge 25 years of crap from this house.
I'm going to need it!
