Finished the Hipster Cardi this morning. It needs a good soak and blocking. That'll wait until I get a little hat made to go with it. I found a basic baby hat pattern online. It jumps from newborn to 1-year size. I think I'll make the 1-year size, but with smaller needles and add cables to match the sweater. It should pull it in enough to fit with this 6-month sweater. At least that's my hope. Stay tuned. Hopefully I'll get a picture of Jameson wearing these.
A Study in Pink is moving along. I'm almost done with the lace pattern around the yoke. Two more rows to go. I would have finished them last night but I couldn't keep my eyes open. They'll get done tonight. After that it is miles of stockinette. This is fingering weight. Hopefully it won't become like the Relax sweater and take over 5 years to finish.
My knitting enabler and I ventured out for another festival. This time was the Mid-Ohio Fiber Festival in Newark, Ohio. It is a small fair, but has several good vendors. I like it because I don't feel overwhelmed and can easily walk through, make note of what I like, and then loop back and buy at the end without fear of missing out. I tend to do more impulse buying at the larger festivals. I'm proud to say that I also kept to my resolution to not buy anymore random skeins of variegated fingering weight yarn. Someday I'll have to figure out what to do with those, but for now they are going to get packed in a bin for relocation to the new house.
My friend and I both know we don't need to buy anymore yarn, but I wanted to go to get more yarn from Knitting Notions for another Rock It Tee. I love how the green striped Rock It Tee turned out. The size is perfect. The fabric is soft and drapey. It is perfect in every way so I decided I want another, but this time in a solid color. I picked up 3 skeins of Classic Merino Bamboo in Heather. This photo does not show the color well. They are a really lovely lavender.
At the festival I was approached by a group of ladies who noticed my Rock It Tee. They introduced themselves as The Knitters Are Here, a YouTube podcast. They complimented my sweater so I told them where I got the yarn. This past week I watched their latest episode and heard them give me a mention. They said they might insert a photo but they in the end did not. But I did see that one of the ladies did buy some Classic Merino Bamboo for herself to make a Rock It Tee. I'm glad they took my recommendation.
I also bought a skein of sport weight Merino from Knitting Notions to make another sweater for Jameson. This is showing more orange-red than it really is. In reality it is a nice true red, perfect for an Ohio State sweater for the little guy.
Next to Knitting Notions was Created 4 U By Laura. She has a yarn called Crystal that is 50% Merino/50%Tencel. It is so soft!! I bought 3 skeins in a lovely salmon color (again the photo is off). Not sure if this will someday be another Rock It Tee or some other summer tee. For now it is getting tucked away. By the time I finish a few more tees, the weather will be getting cooler and I'll transition to some of my winter sweater knitting projects that are on hold.
We were contacted last week by the builder. The hole for our house was scheduled to be dug on Tuesday. Trisha drove by on Wednesday and said it hadn't been, but the crew was working on the hole one lot over. I imagine ours got dug on Thursday or Friday. Everything was staked out last weekend. We have a meeting this Thursday with the site manager to go over the final plans. We'll see the hole then and get a better idea of when we may move in.
Now that we know the house is being started we have to get moving with purging and organizing.
Part of my organization will be to identify projects for my stash yarn. These 4 skeins of Baah Sonoma were bought several years ago with plans to become a Comfort Fade Cardi. But I've since fell out of love with that idea. Cardigans are not something I wear often. With my recent love of tees, I'm going to make these into a simple tee and use helical knitting to fade the colors. These have been bagged and tagged so I don't forget the plan.
Now it is time to sign off and get some work done around the house. Ed is mowing the lawn. Later we are going to tackle a couple of the flower beds to weed and mulch. Thankfully the temperatures have cooled off considerably from earlier in the week when it was in the upper 90s.
