And So It Begins

Construction on our new home has begun.  We met with the site manager and he told us if all goes to schedule, we will be in around Thanksgiving.  That was what he said about 3 weeks ago.  Since then we've had some very heavy rains which I believe have delayed things a bit.  We are probably looking at sometime in December now.

The latest step was pouring the basement walls.  Ed and I stopped by last night after a visit with Trisha and Craig.  Ed thinks the hole looks no bigger than what we have for our 2-story house, but I think it's bigger.  We currently have 3000 square feet distributed over 2 stories.  We're moving to 2400 square feet over a single story.  The hole has to be bigger.  It's just deceiving without any framing to provide reference for room sizes.

Speaking of Trisha and Craig, we've had a couple baby showers.  Kristin and I hosted one last Sunday for our side of the family.  Yesterday, Craig's mom and sister gave one for his side.  Between the two events, they are well supplied for the baby.

Trisha is doing well, but has a minor complication.  The doctor doesn't want the baby to get too big, so his size will be monitored.  The doctor might induce once the baby seems big enough.

I make a little sweater set for Jameson for the first shower.  The sweater is the Hipster Cardi.  I improvised the hat.  Since I still had extra yarn I made a pair of booties.  Jameson should be snug and warm in these this winter.

For yesterday's shower, I made a quilt.  It is a whole cloth linen quilt with long running stitches.  I got the idea from a YouTube channel.  I made a sun motif which I think turned out very nice.  I might make another one to have at our house so that Jameson will have something to lay on while playing.

I have another knitted item in the works.  These are Willum's Overalls by Petite Knits.  I'm making the 6-9 month size.  They look large so I'm hoping the weather will be cool enough for him to wear them when he's the right size.   I have other yarn so I might make another set in the 3-6 month size.

As I mentioned earlier, we've been having a fair amount of rain the past week or so,  It has made for some interesting skies.  This was what the sky looked like after a sudden storm passed over about a half hour before sunset.  I love all the colors in the clouds.
